Saras Sarasvathy at Venturelab Twente about Expert Entrepreneurs and EffectuationSaras is one of the top trainers in VentureLab. She shares about her investigation on expert entrepreneurs: The nr 1 characteristic: They hate market research! Watch the video for more. Saras developed her finding in the Effectuation concept: Effectuation fundamentally rethinks how entrepreneurship is researched and taught throughout the world. Effectuation is a logic used by expert entrepreneurs to solve problems in highly uncertain market environments. Entrepreneurs can learn to think and act effectually, thereby increasing their ability to create successful ventures. See www.venturelabtwente.comSaras Sarasvathy5:092011video

*Institute for OneWorld HealthWorking for the Food and Drug Administration in the early 1990s, Victoria Hale saw many promising new medicines abandoned or not developed to their full market potential. Diseases such as visceral leishmaniasis, long ignored and often fatal, needed special and urgent attention. In 2000 she founded the Institute for OneWorld Health to address the gap between global infectious diseases and pharmaceutical opportunities. Victoria has since left and founded a new nonprofit pharmaceutical company, Medicines360, focusing on unmet needs of the world's women and children. It is a self-sustaining social enterprise, founded with philanthropy, driven by global health inequity, and sustained by revenues. Initial focus areas are contraception and neglected/orphan diseases.Voice-OverOneWorld Health8:182009video

Bihar is one of the most poorly-served states in India when it comes to electricity. Husk Power is connecting remote villages in Bihar to a clean, reliable electricity supply, which provides better light, harnesses a widespread waste product and costs less than alternatives. Husk Power's 65 plants gasify rice husks and other biomass waste to supply electricity to around 180,000 people and, by replacing kerosene, they cut greenhouse emissions by over 8,000 tonnes of CO2 a year. The company is growing rapidly, aiming for over 2,000 plants in operation by the end of 2014.

Sarasvathy has been teaching the effectuation theory for about 10 years.
She has learned that most students have a causal way of thinking about entrepreneurship. She challenges them to use effectual logic and makes them come up with ideas for new businesses.

ABOUT
